Employment First Outreach - Phase 1

Major Goals and Accomplishments of Employment First Outreach

  1. "Start the Conversation about Employment First" to engage self-advocates and their families, state and county employees, employment/community inclusion and residential providers, schools and business owners about what it would take to maintain current employment and increase integrated employment results for people with developmental disabilities. A variety of community events were sponsored:

  2. Assist and Support State Implementation of Employment First
    • Community Leadership for Employment First in Oregon: A Call to Action (2010) - Published by WiSe as a part of the Oregon Employment First Outreach Project, this paper provides a 'blueprint' for organizing state systems and community capacity towards Employment First implementation. It reflects the input and lessons learned through Forums and Orientations conducted throughout the state.

  3. Build and maintain tools for Employment First Messaging
  4. Through this web site and other technologies we work to help everyone get and stay regularly informed and engaged in getting real jobs for individuals. These efforts include:

  5. Develop and Support Local Employment First Leadership Teams
  6. Nine County Teams comprised of various stakeholders were formed during 2011 and are working together to address issues and achieve employment outcomes in their communities.
