Oregon's 1999 High School
Youth Risk and Behavior Survey High Schools
The Oregon Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) is administered every two years to a volunteer sample
of students in grades 9-12. The survey is based on core items on priority health risks from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). Survey results are used for several purposes including monitoring
progress toward Oregon Benchmarks. Participation in the survey was entirely voluntary. All public school
districts were invited to participate as volunteers and receive their own site-specific data. Schools were provided a parent notification form and parents could contact the school if they did not wish their child or children to participate. Students could decline to take the survey or skip any part of it.
