Employee

Request PDA connection to network:

• User-owned: Via e-mail submit request to supervisor for approval.
• For acquisition of PDA by DHS: Via e-mail, submit request to supervisor for approval. Include business need and justification other than personal information management.

Supervisor

Review request based on policy criteria:

• If yes, via e-mail respond, notify employee of approval.
• If no, via e-mail respond, notify employee of decision.

Employee

Purchase required components:

• Follow IT Acquisition Procedure to purchase either required software for user-owned device or PDA and required software for DHS-owned device.
• Supervisor's approval must accompany the purchase request.

Work request to install and configure:

• Upon receipt of purchased components, contact DHS Help Desk for software installation.
• Notify supervisor of existence of device and/or software to include in Employee Assigned Property.

Follow procedure to identify and track employee assigned property. See Employee Assigned Property Policy and Procedures.

OIS

Software installation:

• Confirm ownership of hardware and software (e.g. copy of e-mail approving purchases, copy of purchase order, original package for user-owned device, etc.).
• Install all applicable software.
• Update asset-tracking data.
