Find instructions below on how to move around Child Welfare policy

Copying sections of a pdf file

Click on the little picture of the T with a square next to it in the toolbar. This is the text select tool. Then select the text you would like to copy, right click, choose copy, and then paste the text wherever you want it.

Moving around this site

If you click on the Effective policies index link you will go directly to the table of contents for all Child Welfare policy effective now.

If you click on Draft policies and rules you will be given the choice of viewing past and present draft policies and rules.

If you click on Policy releases you will be given the choice of viewing policies and rules during the six-week implementation phase before they become permanent.

If you click on Policy tools you will be able to view the Child Welfare staff tools: CW Procedures Manual, ICWA tools, CW Required Training Outline, and CASA caseworker tools.

Refreshing the page

Remember to click on the Refresh (Internet Explorer) or Reload (Netscape Navigator) button when you revisit a web page. This will bring up any changes that have been made since you last visited that web page.

Using "bookmarks" and "favorites"

Saving web pages by bookmarking them (Netscape Navigator) or filing them under favorites (Internet Explorer) can be useful, but please keep in mind that sometimes it is necessary to move pages around to improve the overall DHS web structure. This necessitates assigning a new address to the moved page, which means your old bookmarks/favorites will no longer work. You'll get the dreaded "Page not found" message and have to navigate to the page you want from a different direction.

Please report all error messages by emailing Rosalie.A.Carson@state.or.us, or call her at (503) 945-5654.

Printing policy

If you click on Print, you will be printing the entire policy document. However, in Netscape Navigator if you click on "File", "Print Preview", you will have an option of printing the current page rather than the entire document. In Internet Explorer, either hold down the "Ctrl" button and then press "p" or click on "File", "Print", and select the Print Range for one page.

Searching for Key Words within a Policy

When you are viewing a specific policy you may click on the "Edit" menu, then the "Find" menu item (or  Ctrl-F).  In the "Find" dialog box, type in a specific word or phrase that you want to locate in the policy. Each time the "Find Next" button is clicked, you will be taken to the next occurrence of text that matches your criteria.
