I.A Introduction

7-01-11

The Support Staff Assistance Manual (SSAM) includes procedures for functions which are normally the responsibility of support staff working in a Senior and People with Disabilities (SPD) local office or in an Area Agency on Aging (AAA). Although the SSAM provides general procedures, a local office may have existing procedures different or varying from those written here. Except for functions applicable to only SPD- operated offices (e.g., payroll, personnel, purchasing, state vehicles, travel reimbursement, and others listed in Section VII), the procedures are general and apply to both types of offices. For this reason, and for ease of reading, the SPD local offices and AAA units are identified collectively as “local offices.”
The SSAM is divided into eight sections:

  1. About the Manual
  2. Financial
  3. Providers
  4. Case Records/Files
  5. Mail and Shipping
  6. Receptionist
  7. Procedures for State Operated Offices
  8. Miscellaneous

The SSAM will be updated periodically by Central Office. If you have suggestions, please contact Lauren Mitchell at 503.945.6479.
