VII.B State Shuttle Service

8/1/04

The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is responsible for the State Mail Service. In addition to distributing mail to State facilities in Salem, the State Mail Service also transports mail to specific locations in the Willamette Valley via the State Shuttle Service.

Refer to the following two sources to determine if a State office is served by the State Shuttle Service:

Place each piece of shuttle mail in its own envelope with the complete street address of the destination. Multiple pieces going to the same location may be sealed in one envelope. Route slips may be used inside the envelope but should not be used as the only address as they are easily torn off. Place all shuttle items in an inter-agency envelope or zipper pouch provided by the shuttle.

The shuttle generally stops once each day to drop off/pick up any mail for the branches served.

The shuttle is the least expensive way to send items, especially bulky or heavy items such as case files.

Generally, if a field office served by the shuttle moves to another location, it will no longer be served unless the new location is on or close to the shuttle route.
