DHS management training
An overview
All new supervising managers are required to attend the DHS Management Training courses. This includes individuals who are newly hired or appointed, are developmental managers, on job rotation or working out of class as a supervising manager.
The DHS Management training is based on the 8 DHS Management Competencies.
Attendance at these training classes is required for all new supervising managers. Other managers are welcome to register for any of the sessions. Lead workers or employees with a professional development plan may also attend.

How To Register
For Management
Training:
To Register for any of the DHS Management Training courses, log into the DHS Learning Center.
- Click on Courses & Registration, then Find a Course & Register.
- Search for the course by using a keyword from the title, the course number, or use the key word of "mgmt" to get a list of all of these courses.
- Here is a Learning Center Quick Reference Guide that gives step-by-step instructions for logging into the LC and registering for classes.
- If you have any difficulty logging into the LC, contact DHS ServiceDesk at (503) 945-5623.
FYI - About
the classes:
- Course lengths
vary from ½ day
to 1 day, to
2 days in length.
- Most courses
are classroom
style with several
sessions throughout
the year.
- Classes are offered in
Salem and Portland.
- The audience
will include
a mix of managers
from all divisions
/ program areas.
