UPS has a computer program titled UPS OnLine WorldShip. This can be loaded onto your computer and used for printing labels and sending information to UPS directly.
Once this program has been installed the following is the process used:
- Double click on the UPS icon on your desktop. Go to the Ship To tab and enter the appropriate information. Once this information has been entered it will "save" in the program. The next time you need to ship to this same company/name you will just need to start typing and the information will appear.
- The type of service in most cases will be "ground". Click on the Package Box and enter the weight of the item you are shipping. The cost will automatically be calculated.
- Go to the Ship From tab and enter your office name and address here. This will also save so you won't have to re-enter it each time.
- If you want to enter shipments throughout the day, go to Activities on the tool bar and choose "Defer Shipment". This allows you to wait and ship all packages at the end of the day.
- When you are ready to ship, go to the Pick Up Log on the tool bar and choose deferred shipments. Go to Activities once again and mark shipments. Check marks should appear by each item being shipped.
- Go to Activities again, marked shipment activities and process marked shipments automatically. When asked if you are sure, check yes.
- When the UPS truck appears on the screen, place labels in the printer, click on Process and labels will be printed to place on packages.
- Click on Computer on tool bar, close today's shipping and send information to UPS. Answer yes.
- Retrieve report from printer and place with packages for the UPS person to scan when the packages are picked up.
