Eligibility Requirements

Must not be receiving or be eligible for Medicare benefits.

Must be uninsured for the previous 6 months (not including Medicaid).
Exception: Employees who have had their insurance less than 120
days may still apply to FHIAP.

Must meet income guideline. Family’s total investments and savings or liquid assets must be less than $10,000. FHIAP does not count a primary home, vehicles or qualified retirement accounts.

Filing groups are defined differently. One example of this is for OHP, if a mom and dad live together with their child it does not matter if they are married. They are one filing group. For FHIAP, the clients must be married to be one filing group.
